Chasing Waterfalls in Iceland’s Golden Circle

Chasing Waterfalls in Iceland’s Golden Circle

I recently visited Iceland and had the chance to experience the beautiful Golden Circle. With its diverse and rugged landscapes, I was in awe of the beauty Iceland has to offer.

One of the highlights of my trip was chasing waterfalls in the Golden Circle. I was lucky enough to explore three of the most popular waterfalls in the region, Gullfoss, Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss.

Gullfoss Waterfall

My first stop was Gullfoss Waterfall, located in the Hvítá River canyon. I was amazed as soon as I saw it, standing tall at over 11 meters (36 feet). The water cascading down the steps of the waterfall was breathtaking and it was easy to understand why it’s one of the most popular tourist attractions in the area.

The best way to experience Gullfoss is to take a walk along the path that follows the canyon. The path is relatively easy to navigate and offers spectacular views of the waterfall from different angles. I was able to get some great photos of the waterfall from different perspectives.

Seljalandsfoss Waterfall

My next stop was Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, situated on the Seljalands River. It’s definitely one of the most impressive waterfalls in Iceland, standing at an impressive 60 meters (196 feet) high. It was an incredible sight to behold and I could feel the power of the waterfall as I stood in front of it.

What makes this waterfall so unique is the fact that you can walk behind it. This was definitely a highlight of my trip and I was able to get some great photos of the waterfall from behind. It’s definitely worth the effort and I highly recommend it.

Skógafoss Waterfall

My final stop was Skógafoss Waterfall, located on the Skógá River. It’s one of the largest waterfalls in Iceland, standing at a staggering 25 meters (82 feet) high. It was an incredible sight to behold and I could feel the power of the waterfall as I stood in front of it.

The best way to experience Skógafoss is to take a walk up the path that leads to the top of the waterfall. The path is relatively easy to navigate and offers spectacular views of the waterfall from different perspectives. I was able to get some great photos of the waterfall from different angles.

Final Thoughts

Chasing waterfalls in Iceland’s Golden Circle was definitely one of the highlights of my trip. The three waterfalls I visited were all incredibly impressive and I highly recommend adding them to your itinerary if you’re planning a trip to Iceland.

If you’re looking for an unforgettable experience, I highly recommend chasing waterfalls in the Golden Circle. You won’t be disappointed!
